Recently we’ve received a few similar inquiries about the relationship between the holding force of FluxGrip FG40 and the distance to the target. We have now added the missing plot to the documentation that answers this question. The data is based on characterization rather than empirical measurement, but our models are quite precise. If you need additional information on the predictive power and the applicability limits of our models, please get in touch.

FG40 is designed for near-field (i.e., holding) rather than far-field (i.e., pickup) applications, hence the holding force is great when the target is in direct contact, but the cost of that is that it decays very quickly with distance. For a pickup application, a different structure of the magnetic circuit is needed. If you’d like to inquire about this, please contact our support email (on the website).
